International Village is a place for English education. IV is both traditional brick- and-mortar schooling and an incubator for ideas and programs that are changing the face of English education in Japan. International Village has two physical locations: International Village Youth House (IVYHouse), a dorm and educational center near Huis Ten Bosch in Saebo, Nagasaki; and the Nagasaki Planning Office  in Shindaiku, Nagasaki City. International Village is committed to developing and providing innovative, exciting programs for English education. The teachers for our programs are university students studying Teaching English as a Foreign Language and university students and graduates participating in our teaching internships in Nagasaki. IV has three main components: teacher training, English teaching programs for schools, and English program assessment tools and training. TEFL Certification. Partnering with the University of Wisconsin and Nagasaki Prefectural Junior College, GHJ offers a program for certification in Teaching English as a Foreign Language. Students are rigorously trained in teaching techniques, curriculum development, classroom management - in all aspects of the teaching experience. They do a minimum of 100 hours of supervised practice teaching in local schools before they are eligible for certification. English for the Next Generation. ENG is an exciting new way to teach English in Japanese schools, with a curriculum focused on conversational fluency and a teacher package that puts students in one-to-one conversations with our university students and graduates from America. Education Program Development. In addition to ENG, International Village has a variety of educational programs for Japanese schools, including: English assessment programs Conversation Solutions - various ways to get students into real conversation with foreign college students and graduates.
